Meet
Our Ceramic Artist Alaine K. Arnott
"Welcome!
My name is Alaine K. Arnott and
I reside in Lakeland, FL. I truly hope you enjoy the
ceramic show that is on display at Wines by Jennifer
and visit my website at www.akacreations.com."
"I
began working in the field of
art during
my high school experience. I fell in love with
both ceramics and photography. I could not
pick just one
and have stayed
with both of them. I attended college at Central
Michigan University where I received a B.A.A.
in 2-D & 3-D
design and a B.S. in Art Education. I have
shown my work around
the U.S. and have had various commissions including
wedding photography, model photography, family
portraits, and
ceramic shows. I am currently teaching art
at a high school in
Florida while beginning my new business, AKA
Creations.”
"My artwork has a lot to do with how I see my own life,
made up of new and different experiences
each day. I see each day as starting off being very simple and
plain, but
in the end brings variety and complexity.
When looking at my work you will see much of the same idea: from
a distance simple, yet the closer you view
the work the more complex
and more in-depth it becomes. So with my
work I believe I am communicating a piece of my roots while having
the viewer experience something a little
simple and a little complex. I also want the
viewer to see me grow and change as a human being and artist
until
I can
become comfortable in my own skin."

Meet
Our Woodturning Artist Alexander Szalay
"Since
the early 70’s, I have been turning wood into both functional
and artistic objects for my personal enjoyment
and for gift-giving to family and friends. Since retiring,
my intent has been for others to share in the owning
of a hand-turned, fine wood work of art. My pieces are
turned on a wood lathe from beautiful domestic wood and
exotic woods from around the world. Studying a piece
of cured wood and letting the grain, color and shape
determine what design will come of it is one of the
beauties of woodturning. My art consists of hollow turned
vases, bowls of various sizes and personal design, oil
candles, flower arrangers, lidded boxes, wine bottle
stoppers and other fine pieces."
"In addition to my current display at Wines by Jennifer,
I previously had pieces on consignment at several boutique
shops in the Kansas City area. As
a first time entrant in the 2005 Parkville Jazz, Blues
and Fine Arts Festival, I received the Best New
Artist
award."
