"At
a very young age, I began to develop my creative/artistic
talents through workshops by Ruth Nichols of David City,
Nebraska. I continued improving with art classes and volunteering
for a number of T-shirt designs and murals for local events
and organizations."
"Although
I had dreams of grandeur pursuing the life of a 'starving
artist,' the realities of life began to set in, so I followed
a new craze known as the Macintosh computer and Adobe Photoshop,
enrolling in Commercial Graphics and Printing Management
at Pittsburg State University (1991-95)."
"I
continued to dabble with small projects and gifts until
1999, when I was inspired to quit my job and see the world.
With a bicycle, a camera, a stack of maps and some great
people along the way, I have cataloged thousands of ideas,
photos and moments that would serve as my inspiration for
future projects."
"In
November 2005, a friend working in the Children’s Department
of the Downtown Library asked if I could help them with
a window mural to launch the Chronicles of Narnia to coincide
with the movie premiering in theaters. For those that know
me, I have a tendency to 'over-achieve' on occasion; one
painting led to 7 giant paintings (8 ft x 9 ft, 2-sided
images). I had caught the bug again... it was now or never.
Serendipitously, I lined up my first-ever gallery show
with my friend Dan Frueh, who had an opening in June at
525 Gallery in Columbus Park. With some success, I quickly
booked a few more shows for early 2007 and here we are
today."
"'Cluttered
Memories' is a tribute to the various people, places and
moments that have left a colorful impression upon my life.
Utilizing the traditional acrylics on canvas...exploring
the effects of acrylics on aluminum...capitalizing on my
experience with digital media to offer limited edition
prints...most of all, sharing with you the thoughts, the
faces, the moments and the colors that brighten each day."
"I would
also like to give a special thanks to my family and friends
for their continued support and inspiration."
