Kay Tucker & Irene Schomacker

Artist Bios

Kay Tucker is an Abstract Expression. She was an art major at Columbia College in Columbia, Missouri, and also took classes at University of Kansas and Kansas City Art Institute.

In 1971, Kay was named Director of the Angerer Gallery in the early River Quay, Kansas City’s first “Art and Gallery District.” After the death of her husband, she moved to Paola, Kansas and returned to painting under the direction of American painter David Gross in his studio.

Today, Kay’s studio is in her home where she paints everyday.

Irene Schomacker, DVM has always been interested in art, and early studies with Charles Stanley Lewis and at the Kansas City Art Institute gave her a good foundation.

She ultimately chose a career in Veterinary Medicine and was in practice until 2013. Upon retirement, she began studying with David Gross and has now made the study of art a priority.

Although she has exhibited in several galleries and shows, she is happiest in her studio in front of a canvas with a brush in her hand.

Kay and Irene are both David Gross protégées, so it is only natural they would spend the past two years on the collaborative work you see here.
