When
I grew up, being an artist seemed to be a self-indulgent
and whimsical choice of careers. So for many years I was
a very sensible, practical accountant until I realized
people get paid for doing the fun things, too. I finally
got around to the fun things. I'm grateful for this time
in my life.
My
paintings are transparent watercolor which means the whites
are just white paper left untouched. Sounds easy, doesn't
it? The hills and creeks of southwestern Missouri where
I grew up provide me with ever changing light and seasons,
but just as I love the countryside, I also love the city.
The old buildings and homes, the people and sounds have
provided inspiration for paintings of a few of our jazz
musicians and the historic jazz district of Kansas City.
I also have a deep love for the canyons and people of our
great Southwestern states.
