Born
of an alliance between the wine cultures of France
and Argentina, the noble grape varietals of Cabernet
Sauvignon and Malbec, and the two highly-respected
wine families of Domaines Barons de Rothschild Lafite
and Nicolas Catena, this outstanding wine continues
to collect rave reviews from wine critics everywhere.
Vignerons
since the 1800's, these two producers have combined
forces to create a unique wine based upon their
extensive knowledge in the art of winemaking and
of Mendoza's high-altitude terroir.
A
serious and ageworthy wine, Caro is rich and
full-bodied, with characteristics of blackberry
and black currant, and notes of
spice, toast, cocoa and rich soil. The big,
juicy tannins support the concentrated
fruit with smoky, tobacco edges from the oak. It
is a ripe and polished wine described by
Wine Spectator as having "impressive
depth and length."
First released in 2002 with the 2000 vintage, Caro
has quickly gained a reputation as one of Argentina's
icon wines.
