This
beautiful wine is produced from 100% Brunello, which
means “little dark one,” so named
for the brown hue of its skin. Brunello is a Sangiovese
clone also known
as Sangiovese Grosso, and these wines are the finest
agers in Tuscany.
D.O.C.
standards for a Rosso di Montalcino call for a minimum
alcohol content of 12% and a minimum of 10 months
of aging.
The
wine is bright ruby red with soft brown highlights.
The nose is intense, recalling
dry petals and fruits. The palate is full bodied,
well balanced and lingering, with soft but firm tannins.
It is a perfect complement to highly seasoned appetizers
as well as
roasted meats or steak. Best
served at 60° - 64° F.
