The
Madder Lake Vineyard is located directly north of
Mount St. Helena in the northern reaches of the folded
and craggy Mayacamas Range. Littered with truck-sized
boulders, stone and cobble of all sizes, this is
a seriously steep and rocky vineyard with exceptional
drainage and north-northwestern exposures. The proximity
of Clear Lake and the orientation of the vineyard
maximize the potential of this site.
Big,
dark and gripping, this wine has pure fruit essence
in the nose combined with crushed
stone and garrigue notes that reach out and shake you!
High toned blue-blackberry fruit are supported by plush
mouth presence and a long pure finish. All the usual
suspects are present: crushed black fruit and sweet
textured tannins support this ringer for Cornas. Enjoy!
