Red
reserva wines from Rioja are wines from the finest
vintages that have been selected for their outstanding
qualities
and aged
for
three years, at least one of which should be in the
barrel. This 2004 Martin Cendoya Reserva was aged 24
months in barrel and 24 months in bottle.
This
amazing wine makes you realize
just what Spain has to offer! It has an intense and
resistant nose with sweet nuances of dark ripe cherries,
vanilla and a slight sense of the earth in which it
grew. On the palate, the rich ripe fruits are excellently
linked with the oak to create a harmony of full, intense
and persistent flavors.
The
blend in the 2004 vintage is 80% Tempranillo, 15% Graciano
and 5% Mazuelo. The
15% of (very old vines) Graciano helps
make this wine very special. Graciano is a difficult
vine
to grow
and it gives Rioja wines extra aging potential
and a structured
feeling in the mouth.
Drink
now through 2016.
