Esmonin is based at Les Estournelles in Gevrey-Chambertin.
He comes from a solid Burgundy
pedigree, as his father, André, was a highly
respected Gevrey grower who produced the grand
cru Mazis-Chambertin for the Hospice de Beaune.
owns 17.5 acres throughout the Côte de Nuits,
including holdings in Clos Prieur, a premier
cru vineyard just south of the
village of Gevrey-Chambertin that sits at the base
of the Gevrey-Chambertin hill, home to the grand
cru Le Chambertin and Clos de Beze vineyards.
Judicious use of oak, excellent concentration at
every level, and early bottling to maintain freshness
make this a very attractive and finely structured
red Burgundy. Try it with the “Cedar Plank Salmon”
recipe from our Wines
by Jennifer Cookbook!
