Barville is Laurent Brotte’s family estate, and
comprises 15 hectares spread over two of the
best areas in all Châteauneuf-du-Pape. Average
age of the vines is 35 years, and sustainable, old-school
viticulture is the byword here.
typical southern Rhône blend of Grenache,
Syrah and Mourvèdre is aged in 33% new French
oak barrels, producing a lovely wine that is surprisingly
approachable in its youth. It offers outstanding
notes of cherries, spring flowers, spice and wonderful
Provençal garrigue, all wrapped up in a full-bodied,
rounded, already-hard-to-resist style. As difficult
as it may be to wait, it will reward your patience
over the coming 4 - 6 years.
