2005
"Genie" White
Blend
Muse
Winery
California

Muse Winery in Murphys, California developed Genie to
be fresh, bright, and easy to drink, while focusing
on quality and value.
How
does Muse accomplish this? By following
these philosophical themes: (1) choose premium grapes
and wine from across California’s premier vineyards
(with special emphasis on vineyards in the Sierra
Foothills), (2) blend the grapes toward the single
goal of producing
a fresh, fruit-forward taste profile, NOT in maintaining
the over-used single-grape paradigm, (3) produce
wines that are at their flavor peak upon release.
No need
to age – just enjoy!
Probably
the most distinctive element of the Muse philosophy,
however, is the fact
that they conscientiously change the blends with
every vintage! Thus, you will never become bored
with
Muse, because there is always something different
- and even more exciting - waiting in the next barrel.
The
2005 Genie has floral and perfume notes. It is a
crisp, refreshing blend of Chardonnay, Muscat Canelli,
and Sauvignon Blanc. Great by the pool, on the deck,
or with any spicy food. Don’t forget this unique bottle:
a distinctive shape and a distinctive closure - a releasable
bar cork (like they use in port wine closures) – no
corkscrew necessary! Think of what you can do with
the bottle after you finish the wine: bath oil container,
olive oil for your kitchen counter top, dry herb mixtures
that you use frequently for cooking, just to
name a few.

Red
Wine
2004 "Innominato" Red
Blend
Cennatoio
Winery
Toscana,
Italy
Cennatoio
is a wine estate that Leandro and Gabriella Alessi
have managed since 1971. Cennatoio commands
a stupendous view of the Chianti countryside, its
hills blanketed by vineyards and olive orchards and
dotted by churches, castles and scattered stands of
mighty oaks.
The
special character of the soil, which is marly, stony
and hard to work, and its exposure to the south (ideal
for varieties like Sangiovese, Canaiolo, Trebbiano,
Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot and Chardonnay)
contribute in decisive fashion to the production
of wines that are fine, robust and endowed with a
delicate
scent of iris.
Innominato is made from Sangiovese, Cabernet Sauvignon
and Merlot in percentages that change according to
the
vintage. It is deep ruby-red in color with intense,
fruity aromas that hint at cherry jam, dark currants
and a touch of green pepper. This wine is suited
for all main dishes because it is pleasant, smooth,
and well
balanced. A long, lingering cherry finish on
the palate shows a slight hint of licorice. This
wine
is still
a bit young, so try a bottle now, but stock up
your cellar to enjoy bigger rewards later.
