Below
are the June, 2008 Featured Wines for the Wines
by Jennifer Wine Club.
White
Wine
2006
Delea Marengo Bianco Ticino, Switzerland
This
unusual white blend of Merlot, Sauvignon
Blanc, and Chardonnay is from Ticino, an Italian-speaking
region of Switzerland. Yellow to pale-yellow
with greenish tints, the wine shows floral
aromas that lead to a dry, fresh,
savory, persistent
and harmonic palate.
This
wine will complement cheeses or fish and
is drinking beautifully right now or
over the next 2-3 years.
Ticino,
the southern most canton
of Switzerland, was formerly a part of
northern Italy and has been producing wine
since the Roman era. However, it was only
after 1906, with the introduction of Merlot,
that the area began
to
produce quality wine.

Red
Wine
2006
Louis Bernard
Côtes-du-Rhône
Rhône
Valley, France
Since
1976, Louis Bernard has united winemakers of the
Rhône
Valley in a common project: to devote the best of
their wine and savoir-faire to producing great
wines. With production throughout the Côtes-du-Rhône
region, Louis Bernard remains dedicated to showcasing
the unique characteristics of each terroir while
producing exquisite, world-class wines.
Produced
from Grenache
and Syrah, the wine is cherry
red in appearance, with fruity aromas of raspberry
and black currant. The ample palate is fruity with
a hint of oak. Well-balanced and long lasting, enjoy
with duck, roast pork, lamb stew, or hard cheeses.
"Top
Value: Forward and juicy, with
lots of dark plum and blackberry notes, framed
by toast and mineral hints. A solid introduction
to the appellation." - Wine Spectator |
The Rhône
Valley is probably the most diverse wine region in
France, and production there dates to
pre-Roman times. Côtes
du Rhône wines are the basic AOC wines
of the Southern Rhône region, with the reds
generally dominated by the Grenache grape.
