Field
Stone Winery & Vineyards was founded
in 1977, with its own celebrated estate
vineyards dating back to 1894. The winery
is a fascinating, small, underground
facility carved into a picturesque hillside
in Sonoma's Alexander Valley.
Production
on all of the Field Stone offerings is
small. All are less than 3,000
cases per year, and most are less than 1,000.
The Staten Family Reserves are generally
about 100 cases per year. These production
figures tell you the winery is more interested
in quality
rather than
quantity, and it becomes more apparent when
tasting the wines.
Convivio
means "with life." This Cabernet
Sauvignon/Merlot blend exhibits
ripe fruit traits and spice in a light,
easy drinking
style. Burgers and pizza will be quite happy
in the company of this wine.
Field
Stone also donates a portion of the sales
proceeds from Convivio to Clinica Alianza,
a nonprofit
medical center serving Sonoma County farmworkers
and their families.
