Clemen Reserva
Vinho
Verde D.O.C.
Located
in the northwest section of Portugal, the climate in
Vinho Verde is particularly different from other wine
regions in the
country, with high levels
of precipitation and humidity and lengthy periods
of fog
and low temperatures, producing wines of
character, depth and expression. This
Atlantic climate and the granite soil are
the main factors that give Vinho Verde wines their
much appreciated
characteristics: young, fresh wines with fruity aromas
and relatively low alcohol levels.
The
Clemen Reserva is a vibrant wine, with clean,
fresh fruit aromas leading to flavors of citrus and
a hint of minerality balancing bright acidity on the
medium-long finish. The winery hand-harvests
100% of their grapes to ensure quality.
This
blend of 50% Alvarinho and 50% Trajadura is a perfect
accompaniment
to grilled fish, seafood and white meat.

Penley Estate
"Condor"
Coonawarra,
South Australia
Founded
in 1988 by a direct descendent of Australia's
pioneering Penfold and Tolley families,
Penley Estate is located in the heart
of Australia's greatest Cabernet region.
With its warm, dry summers and cool, wet
winters,
Coonawarra's climate is similar to both
Bordeaux and
Margaret River, each renowned Cabernet-producing
regions.
The
"Terra Rossa" soil is by
far the most famous aspect of the terroir
here. This rich, red earth with its small
percentage of
clay
is incredibly
free-draining, making it perfect for vine
growing. The wines
of Coonawarra should show classic cassis
and blackberry flavors, with both these
characteristics derived from the soil.
The
Condor symbolizes Penley’s determination,
energy and quiet persistence towards winemaking
excellence. This blend of 60% Shiraz and 40%
Cabernet shows fragrant berries and
spice on the
nose,
complemented
by
rich cassis and violets. The palate of
juicy red berries, leather, and dark chocolate
is supported by classic Coonawarra tannins,
allowing the wine to be enjoyed now and
over the next 5 - 7 years.
"Penley Estate is one of the finest
Coonawarra producers, fashioning wines
of greater richness, nuance and aging
potential than most of their peers."
