Rosé Wine

2008 Robert Hall

"Rosé de Robles"

Hall Ranch

Paso Robles, California

Robert Hall Rose de Robles 2008Robert Hall Winery is located in the Paso Robles appellation, 20 miles inland from the Pacific Ocean, and literally halfway between Los Angeles and San Francisco. Paso Robles is the center of the Central Coast wine region which spans from Monterey County in the north to Santa Barbara County in the south.

The climate and diverse Hall Ranch vineyard soils provide optimal growing conditions for warm region varietals, such as the Grenache (47%), Syrah (41%), Cinsault (6%), and Mourvedre (6%) grapes that make up this delicious rosé. Hot days end with coastal breezes that flow over the Santa Lucia Mountain Range to cool the vineyards in the evenings, delivering near-perfect growing conditions that allow these late-season reds to reach optimal maturity.

This wine offers a spice bomb aroma and juicy, easygoing strawberry, watermelon and licorice flavors.

Red Wine

2004 Mezzacorona

Teroldego Rotaliano Riserva

Trentino, Italy

2004 Mezzacorona Teroldego Rotaliano RiservaLocated at the foot of the snow-capped Dolomite mountains which block the cold winds from the north of Europe, the Trentino region enjoys a warm Mediterranean climate and crystal clear sunlight. The landscape is characterized by deep valleys, more than 400 lakes, and numerous glaciers of the surrounding mountains, which peak at over 9,000 feet.

The Teroldego grape is an indigenous varietal of Trentino which finds its ideal environment in the Piana Rotaliana. Teroldego seems to derive from “Tiroler Gold,” the name used to describe this wine at the Court of Vienna under the Austro-Hungarian empire. Among the Trentino wines, it is certainly the most famous and rightfully called the royal wine of Trentino.

This Riserva is produced only in the best vintages from manually harvested grapes of the best Piana Rotaliana vineyards of Fron, Rauti, Catorzi and Sottodossi.

The color is intense ruby red, with a pleasant aroma of ripe fruit (plums, blackberries, cranberry and blackcurrant), accompanied by the spicy notes which derive from the aging in oak barrels. The flavor is full-bodied, well-balanced, and pleasantly tannic.

A wine of great character, it pairs well with stews, roasted and grilled red meats, and flavorful cheese. Ideal with Risotto al Teroldego.
