are the July, 2010 Featured Wines for the Wines
by Jennifer Wine Club.
1971, Arnaldo Caprai bought the Val di Maggio estate
in Montefalco, located in the region of Umbria. His
lifelong dream was to produce a wine of his own and
discover the potential of the local varieties, one of
which is Grechetto,
a grape that traces its origins back to Greek times.
Bianco blends the Grechetto (85%) with Trebbiano Spoletino
(15%). It is yellow straw with green tinges. Intense
and persistent on the nose, with apple and floral notes
that give a quite complex aroma. Done with a marked
elegance and harmony, it has a slight acidity
that makes it pleasant and fresh.

Gran Sasso d'Italia (or Great Stone of Italy) is
a mountain located in the Abruzzo, the region of
central Italy near the Adriatic Sea where the native
Montepulciano grape thrives.
The grapes for this wine are grown in 15-20 year-old
vineyards situated at approximately 250m above sea
level. This unique position of the vineyards allows
them to benefit from the sea and mountain breezes,
producing wines that are full in body and truly represent
the characteristics of the region.
This 100% Montepulciano sees no oak, resulting in
a clean, fresh and approachable wine. Deep in color,
plummy on the nose, and rich, supple and accessible
on the palate, it is the perfect accompaniment to pizzas
and Italian red sauce dishes.
