by Jennifer Wine Club.
The 2009 RouteStock Cellars Carneros
Chardonnay is inspired by the fog-shrouded, wind-swept
stretch of Highway 121 known as the Carneros Highway.
By identifying prime, family-owned vineyard sources along
this blustery highway, they have created a wine that
reminds why Carneros is such a great place to grow Chardonnay.
Fifty percent of the wine went through malolactic fermentation.
The final blend spent an average of six months in French
oak, 30% of which was new.
aromatic Chardonnay captures the essence of Carneros,
with notes of tropical fruit,
peach blossoms and apricots. Subtle minerality, refreshing
acidity and oak aging work in harmony to create a wine
that is enjoyable as an aperitif or with a wide range
Vinhas Velhas" Red Blend
is located in northeast Portugal, within the Douro
River basin, surrounded by craggy mountains that
give it very particular soil and climatic characteristics.
This region spreads over a total area of approximately
250,000 hectares and is divided into three sub-regions.
means “old vines” in Portuguese, and denotes a wine
produced from old vineyards that are planted with
several grape varieties - a field blend of sorts. The wine
is deep garnet color and very aromatic, with notes
of blueberries and blackberries.
Full-bodied and concentrated but very fresh, with
ripe and round tannins, with the same notes of blueberries
and blackberries on a very long, lingering finish.
