Featured Wine

Below are the September, 2011 Featured Wines for the Wines by Jennifer Wine Club:

White Wine

Mud House

2010 Sauvignon Blanc

Marlborough, New Zealand

2010 Mud House Sauvignon BlancEstablished in 1996, the Mud House name reflects an origin and link to the earth, where the wine begins. Appropriately, all Mud House wines are grown and produced sustainably.

Two talented ladies, Nadine Worley and Cath Oates, lead the Mud House winemaking team. Their combined experience from working vintages all over the world, coupled with their finely tuned palates and attention to detail, ensures Mud House wines are the finest expressions of New Zealand's cool climate regions.

100% stainless steel fermentation and maturation yields a pale straw wine with lifted notes of guava, elderflower and fresh nettles. The mouthwatering flavors of tropical fruits, citrus and green beans marry perfectly to give a long, balanced finish.

Pair with fresh Blue Cod, lightly grilled with new season potatoes and garden peas.

Santa Ema

2008 Barrel Select Carmenère

Cachapoal Valley, Chile

Santa Ema 2008 Barrel Select CarmenèreCachapoal Valley is known for its Carmenère par excellence - the source of Chile’s finest Carmenères. It is from here that Santa Ema's "barrel select" line begins with a careful selection of barrels that show a tremendous fruit expression representing the best of the variety.

The wine is aged 100% in oak barrels for eight months, with additional bottle aging of at least four months. The color is intense violet-red, with well-balanced aromas that recall black cherries, fine herbs, black pepper, and a bit of chocolate. Well-rounded with big body, good concentration, and a pleasing, fruity finish.

Excellent with pastas, meats, casseroles, cheeses, and steamed vegetables, this wine is a perfect pairing for the "Grilled Lamb Kebabs" featured in our Wines by Jennifer Cookbook.
