2010 Montresor "Monti Guidi del Carmine" PecorinoThe Pecorino grape is a variety that was literally brought back from the brink of extinction. Not long ago, just a few vines were discovered in a nearly wild state in Italy’s Marche region and identified as the historic Pecorino grape, which was long thought to have been extinct. Legend has it that the grape was once a favorite snack of the sheep that were often led through vineyards on their way to lower pastures. In Italian, “pecora” means sheep, and pecorino cheese is made from sheep's milk.

Pecorino produces a medium to full-bodied wine with only moderate acidity, often showing flavors and aromas of yellow fruits, ground white spices like ginger and white pepper, and nuts, especially almonds and hazelnuts.

It matches perfectly with fresh cheeses, all dishes of fish and white meats, as well as salads and appetizers.

2005 Aljibes Red BlendBodega Los Aljibes is a family project that is devoted to sustainability and green environmental practices. Over 900 hectares are available for cultivation: 200 hectares of scrubland for varied animal and vegetable ecosystems, 178 hectares of vineyards, 50 hectacres of olives, with the remaining area dedicated to grains.

This Bordeaux-style blend is 30% old vine Cabernet Franc, 35% Merlot and 35% Cabernet Sauvignon. The wine is aged nine months in American and French oak barrels, plus three months in large 10hl French oak vats.

An intense bouquet of dark currants and spice leads to full bodied flavors of black fruit, smooth vanilla, bittersweet chocolate, saddle and spice. The perfect balance, firm structure and ripe tannins suggest that this wine, though drinking very well now, will age gracefully over the next 5 - 7 years.
