2011 Greywacke

Sauvignon Blanc

2011 Greywacke Sauvignon BlancKevin Judd is one of Marlborough’s pioneer winemakers whose career is intrinsically linked with the global profile of Marlborough Sauvignon Blanc. As founding winemaker at Cloudy Bay, he directed their first 25 vintages. In 2009, he established his own label, Greywacke, named after New Zealand’s prolific bedrock.

Also an accomplished wine photographer, Kevin's signature vineyard shots provide the unmistakable identity of the Greywacke range.

Created from select parcels of fruit grown in prime vineyard sites, this is a deliciously aromatic, finely balanced wine. Steeped in grapefruit, lemon and stone fruit character, this is a Sauvignon Blanc with considerable concentration and minerality, yet retaining freshness and zest. This is a mouth-filling, multi-layered wine with considerable ripeness and palate structure, balanced by juicy acidity and a refreshingly crisp, flinty finish.

Pascual Toso Reserve Cabernet Sauvignon 2007

 

Pascual Toso left the family wine business in his native Piedmont and established his first winery in San José in 1890. Ten years later, he decided to expand the business and acquired vineyards in Maipú, which he correctly believed contained the best quality grapes in the region.

This 100% Cabernet Sauvignon is produced with grapes sourced from that original Las Barrancas estate vineyard. Aged for 12 months in new oak (80% American/20% French), the wine is then further refined four months in bottle before release.

Notes of elegance and complexity lead to a lengthy, focused finish full of very sweet but consistent tannins. Serve at 59 – 62°F with red meats, lamb, Italian pasta, or French cheeses.
