Featured Wine

Below are the August, 2012 Featured Wines for the Wines by Jennifer Wine Club:

White Wine

2009 Beni di Batasiolo

Piedmont, Italy

Beni di Batasiolo 2009 GaviThe vineyards of Batasiolo lie nestled in rural northern Italy in the heart of Piedmont, famed home of Barolo wines. The original nine vineyards encircle the winery like an amphitheater: the complete estate comprises nearly 250 acres, making it one of the leading farms in Piedmont.

Made from 100% Cortese grapes as dictated by DOCG law, the grapes underwent soft pressing and static decanting, followed by slow alcoholic fermentation under strict temperature control. The wine was then bottled after the malolactic fermentation.

Delicate, straw-yellow in color, with deep green reflections. The soft, characteristic aroma provides typical scents of fresh fruit and white flowers. Dry and refreshing, the palate gives well-balanced flavors of pear and citrus.

An ideal apéritif, or the perfect partner for hors d’oeuvres and fish dishes.

Red Wine

2010 Jovino Oregon Pinot Noir

2010 Jovino Oregon Pinot NoirJovino is produced by veteran winemaker Joe Dobbes. Perhaps better known as the owner and winemaker of Dobbes Family Estate, he is one of Oregon’s largest and most respected producers.

Sourced from 60% Willamette Valley and 40% Rogue Valley fruit, this 100% Oregon Pinot Noir spent 10 months maturing in French oak barrels.

Ruby garnet in color, the wine opens with sweet, ripe and forward notes of red and black fruits and barrel spices. The warm, soft mouthfeel unfolds around flavors of red and black currants, blackberries, cherries, and a hint of black licorice - all wrapped in well-integrated, ripe and rich tannins. A touch of light toast envelopes secondary flavors of spicy oak with fresh, mouth-watering acidity. The finish is supple and long on the palate with ripe tannins.

Perfect with the "Deli-Style Turkey Rollups" from our Wines by Jennifer Cookbook!
