Featured Wine

Below are the October, 2012 Featured Wines for the Wines by Jennifer Wine Club:

White Wine

Triumph Cellars

2010 Chardonnay

Napa Valley, California

Triumph Cellars 2010 ChardonnayTriumph Cellars was founded in 1996 as a partnership of friends from around the U.S. who act as ambassadors for the winery in their respective communities.

The wines are made by Barry Gnekow, an award-winning winemaker with 30+ years experience making wine. He sources Chardonnay fruit from their estate vineyard, and also from Napa Valley vineyards north of St. Helena.

The 2010 Triumph Cellars Chardonnay is light in color, and shows clarity and brilliance. Beautifully balanced, with just the right mix of ripe pear and melon, accented with mild hints of oak. The wine is medium bodied with a long, creamy, mouth-filling vanilla finish. It is perfectly paired with saffron-flavored rice dishes, seafood, and cream-sauced pasta.

Napa Valley, California

Red Wine

2010 Stefano Farina

Barbera d'Alba

Piedmont, Italy

2010 Stefano Farina Barbera d'AlbaLocated in the province of Cuneo, Alba is considered the capital of the hilly area of Piedmont's Langhe region, and is famous for white truffle, peach and wine production. Barbera is the most widely grown red wine grape here, once simply known as "what you drank while waiting for the Barolo to be ready." With a new generation of winemakers now on the scene meticulously vinifying Barbera, this is no longer the case.

The 2010 Stefano Farina Barbera d'Alba is dark ruby in color, with floral, red fruit, and spice notes on the nose. Light-to-medium bodied, with dried cherry and oak on the mid palate, the neutral tannins and abundant acidity make this not only great for quaffing, but very versatile with food.

Enjoy with a slight chill now or over the next year alongside the “Swedish Meatballs with Paprika Sauce” from our Wines by Jennifer Cookbook!
