are the April, 2013 Featured Wines for the Wines
by Jennifer Wine Club:
deep in Galicia along the Portuguese border, Monterrei
is one of the most remote D.O.s within the area. Taken
from the Galician word for “friendship,” Amizade is a
collaboration between Monterrei viticulturalist Toni
Mendez and winemaker Gerardo Mendez of the highly regarded
Do Ferreiro winery.
During the Middle Ages, wines from Monterrei were well
known throughout Europe, but over the centuries the region
slowly withdrew from favor. Recently, however, a few independent
vintners and winemakers such as Toni and Gerardo have begun
to revitalize Monterrei with a focus on native varietals
such as Godello.
The wine shows lively aromas reminiscent of local, wild
herbs such as thyme and lavender. The palate is signature
Godello in its textural qualities and persistent, crisp
presence. Bottled after six months of lees aging, these
wines stand to drink well upon release, but will also benefit
from some bottle aging.

Bocce” Chianti Classico DOCG
Classico is synonymous with prestige, beauty, and wines
of outstanding quality. It is located
in the heart of central Italy's Tuscany region, and,
unlike the rest of Chianti's sub-zones, it was awarded
its own DOCG
classification in 1996.
A blend of 95% Sangiovese and 5% Cannaiolo, this wine
has rich floral and fruity aromas of violet, blackberry,
and iris, with a distinctive touch of vanilla from six
months spent in oak casks. The taste is dry and robust
in its youth, becoming progressively gentler with age,
yet still maintaining a well balanced and generous character.
by Jennifer is also proud to present our "Cellar
