Featured Wine

Below are the July, 2013 Featured Wines for the Wines by Jennifer Wine Club:

White Wine

2011 Biokult

Grüner Veltliner

Niederösterrreich, Austria

2011 Biokult Grüner VeltlinerBiokult unites a group of organic Austrian vintners with the shared goal of producing organic wines of the highest quality - wines that embody regional identity and bring pure, natural enjoyment in the glass. All Biokult vintners are obliged to certified organic production, environmental protection, biodiversity, and the promotion of healthy soils in their vineyards, along with abstinence from artificial fertilizers and stabilizers.

Grüner Veltliner is Austria's best white wine variety. A fruity-spicy aroma reminiscent of freshly ground black peppercorn is its typical trademark. A versatile food wine, this Grüner would pair exceptionally well with “Jasper's Lobster Cappuccino” from our Wines by Jennifer Cookbook.

Niederösterrreich, Austria

Red Wine

2010 Graffito Malbec

Mendoza, Argentina

2010 Graffito MalbecOver the last 15 years, Jimena Lopez developed a very personal set of fine winemaking principles: use great fruit from old vines in a special location, handle all the winemaking steps herself, and put her stamp of approval (a thumbprint) on the label. With this wine produced from grapes sourced from a single 3000' elevation vineyard in Lujan de Cuyo with vines averaging 103 years of age, she has definitely achieved her objective.

Typical deep and bright Malbec colors, with ethereal aromas of rose petal incense and spicy perfume leading to a bass note of smoky earth and espresso. Juicy and medium-bodied, it expands and intensifies in the mouth, gaining density and complexity as it is savored. The palate balances red currant fruit and hints of black pepper with loads of mouth-coating ripe tannins so common to old vine Malbec.

Get out the decanter and let this old-vine beauty breathe before enjoying with the “Beef Empanadas” from our Wines by Jennifer Cookbook.
