Featured Wine

Below are the September, 2014 Featured Wines for the Wines by Jennifer Wine Club:

White Wine

Mt. Difficulty

"Roaring Meg" Pinot Gris

Central Otago, New Zealand

Mt. Difficulty "Roaring Meg" Pinot GrisThis Kiwi success story began in the early 1990's, when the owners of five newly planted vineyards in Bannockburn, Central Otago shook hands and decided to work together to produce wine under one label, Mt. Difficulty, so named for the mountain that provides these vineyards with their vital protective rain shadow.

The grapes for this wine come from estate vineyards in Central Otago’s Cromwell basin. This wine has aromatics reminiscent of a fruit cocktail full of stone fruit, melon, and green mango. These characters are richly replicated on the palate, with a full-textured mid-palate and an off-dry finish.

Serve with the Baked Goat Cheese and Baguette recipe from our Wines by Jennifer Cookbook.

Red Wine

Mt. Difficulty

"Roaring Meg" Pinot Noir

Central Otago, New Zealand

Mt. Difficulty "Roaring Meg" Pinot NoirThis Kiwi success story began in the early 1990's, when the owners of five newly planted vineyards in Bannockburn, Central Otago shook hands and decided to work together to produce wine under one label, Mt. Difficulty, so named for the mountain that provides these vineyards with their vital protective rain shadow.

The wine shows lovely perfumed blackberry and dark cherry aromas and flavors, along with a hint of spice that adds complexity. Lovely, ripe, textural tannins rise gracefully out of the mid-palate, balanced by abundant acidity and fruit on the long and pleasing finish.

Roaring Meg Pinot Noir will improve for 3 - 5 years given optimal vintage and cellaring conditions, but is perfect right now with the “Grilled Leg of Lamb” from our Wines by Jennifer Cookbook.
