Wines for the Wines
by Jennifer Wine Club:
"The Dry Dam" Riesling
Vale, South Australia
Through four generations spanning over 100 years, the
Osborn family has successfully established d'Arenberg as
one of Australia’s iconic producers of concentrated, characterful
wines by maintaining a focus on traditional winemaking
and nurturing their old-vine material.
Jasmine, orange blossom and lemon/lime notes leap from
the glass, leading to a perfect sugar-acid balance from
this fine vintage. These characters all meld together perfectly
to create a mouth-watering yet supple sherbet character,
so typical of good McLaren Vale Riesling. The wine finishes
dry and mineral, not cloying in the least.
A pleasure to drink right now, this wine will evolve elegantly
for many years to come. It is the ideal way to cut through
the heat of the “Spicy Thai Salad” from
by Jennifer Cookbook!
y Viñedos Gómez Cruzado Crianza
of Bodegas y Viñedos Gómez Cruzado date
back to 1886, when Ángel Gómez de Arteche,
a nobleman related to the Duke of Moctezuma de Tultengo,
decided to start making and bottling his own wine in
Haro, in the heart of Rioja Alta.
This Crianza is a blend of Tempranillo from vineyards
in the foothills of the Cantabria range and Garnacha
from the high Najerilla. All fruit is hand-picked in
200 kg crates and then hand-sorted at the winery. Lean
and shiny, with a red-ruby color. The nose is eminently
fruity, with spiced cherry notes intermingled with
vanilla characters. The palate is smooth and elegant,
with persistent fruit and subtle tannin.
