Tertre de Launay
is considered one of the best villages for white
wines in the Entre-Deux-Mers, and the Greffier
family has been making wine there for six generations.
They became quite well known after their Château
Tertre de Launay wines were added to the wine list
at Taillevent, the famous Michelin-starred restaurant
crisp, aromatic white is laced with brilliant mineral
notes and a firm citrus acidity. A blend of
three traditional Bordeaux white varietals, Sauvignon
Blanc, Semillion, and Muscadelle, it derives its unique
complexity and depth from the latter varietal, one
seldom used these days due to its fickle vineyard temperament.

in the southern half of Portugal, the sparsely
populated Alentejo region covers about a third
the country. It has long been known for its vast
cork production, but in recent years has also
attention for its quality red wine production.
of the indigenous Alentejo grapes Aragonez, Trincadeira,
Alfrocheiro, and Castelão is
a structured and opulent wine. Layers of dark fruits
and solid tannins give dense character, while red
fruits burst out to provide balancing acidity and
a perfumed aftertaste.
