Domaine Bonnet-Huteau “Les Dabinières”Located in the Nantes area of the far western Loire Valley, Muscadet is easily one of the best-value French wine regions, and Sèvre et Maine is no doubt its most highly regarded sub-appellation. Virtually all white wines produced in this area are made with the Melon de Bourgogne grape.

Domaine Bonnet-Huteau is both organic and biodynamic in its production, and makes this single-vineyard wine with maximum respect for the Melon grapes they get from the 30-year-old vines in their “Les Dabinières” vineyard. Fermented in concrete to emphasize the purity of fruit and left on the lees (sur lie in French, a designation of quality in Muscadet) for one year to develop richness and complexity.

Classic Muscadet aromas of citrus, seashell, and savoriness, with a palate that adds plenty of leesy complexity, salinity, chalky minerality and a hint of stone fruit. This wine is just begging for shellfish, or try it with the “Coquilles St. Jacques” from our Wines by Jennifer Cookbook!

Bodega Bernabé Navarro "Beryna" Red Blend

Bodega Bernabé Navarro is located in Alicante, an area of Spain with a very long winemaking history. We gained an appreciation for these largely unheralded wines on a visit to the vineyards of Spain's “Costa Blanca” many years ago, where the vines grow in sandy soils in vineyards with gorgeous Mediterranean views.

The estate occupies 40 hectares, cultivated mostly with the indigenous Monastrell grape, but also Tempranillo, Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot and Syrah. Restrained aromas slowly evolve into a beautiful red fruit bouquet layered with subtle, earthy notes of a wet forest floor, rich, dark chocolate, and deep gray slate. The textured palate is so creamy and delicate, yet so intense, that it reminds of homemade chocolate truffles. Throw in some smoky vanilla character backed by dark luscious red fruit and you have a beautiful wine that will marry perfectly with the “Black Forest Brownies” recipe from our Wines by Jennifer Cookbook!
