Wines for the Wines
by Jennifer Wine Club:
“other” white grape of Burgundy, Aligoté is
at its best in the wines of Bourgogne Aligoté,
a regional appellation created in 1937 specifically
for white wines made from this grape. It has a long
and rich history in Burgundy, and currently accounts
for 6% of all plantings there.
The wine is white-gold in color with strong green
highlights. The bold, fresh aromas are reminiscent
of green apples and lemon. Liveliness and pronounced
acidity are well complemented by a suppleness that
is pleasant and finessed.

The Haut-Médoc is a vast vineyard area located
in the north of Bordeaux between the Gironde estuary
and the Atlantic Ocean. This prestigious region has built
its reputation on Cabernet Sauvignon, the emblematic
grape variety of Médoc. Cabernet confers strength
and finesse to these wines, as well as adding remarkable
aging potential. French wine law also allows for Merlot,
Cabernet Franc, Malbec, and Petit Verdot to be added,
and this magic of blending provides each château
the ability to define an individual personality
the outstanding 2010 vintage, this rustic, complex
wine shows the dark fruit notes and muscular,
earthy minerality that only Haut-Médoc can bring.
This is a red Bordeaux to savor early and often with
