"Jennifer's Favorites
for Mother's Day"
Sparkling
& White Wines
-
This sparkling non-vintage Prosecco from Italy's Veneto
has a very pale straw yellow color with fine yet persistent
bubbles.
The
aroma
is
fruity
and flowery,
with hints of ripe golden apple and small mountain flowers.
You will find it to be dry, fresh and flavorful on the palate
followed by a fruity and harmonious finish that lingers pleasantly
in your mouth. It is perfect as an aperitif or with a plate
of assorted cheeses.
-
The old vines used to produce this 2007 white Bordeaux are
55% Semillon, 35% Sauvignon, and 10% Muscadelle. There
is a
gunflint
aspect,
along with
citrus
perfumes like
citronella and orange blossom. On the palate too, there is
freshness and liveliness, which mirrors the exquisite bouquet.
Pair this with shellfish, crab, or lighter fare.
-
A stellar follow-up to the 2006 release, this 2007 Chardonnay
from Western Australia is bright, vibrant and wonderfully
aromatic. The wine is
brimming
full of fresh flavors with notes of lychee, apple and pear,
spectacular in its flavor and character. This is what unoaked
Chardonnay is meant to taste like. Enjoy now with friends
and family.
Red
Wines
-
The winery's newest Sonoma
Coast designation draws upon some new vineyard sources, including
Russian River, which allowed the winemaker
added flexibility to create blends of greater depth and
complexity. This Pinot Noir's vibrant flavors, reminiscent
of raspberry and cherry, make
it an ideal accompaniment to grilled fish and fowl or barbecued
meats. Similar in style to its predecessor, the Sonoma
Valley, this 2007 vintage represents a tremendous value
for everyday drinking.
-
This 2006 Tuscan wine is 100% Sangiovese. Intense ruby-red
color. Full and persistent nose where herbs and plum
abound. On the palate, the wine shows particularly soft tannins
that produce warm and velvety sensations, while dark candied
fruit and a touch of pepper thrill the senses.
-
This
winery was the first to plant Syrah in Santa Barbara County
in 1978.
With thirty years experience, their estate vineyard yields
intensely flavored grapes that create elegant wines. This
2005 Syrah from
Santa Ynez Valley displays rich blackberry, cassis, espresso,
mocha and signature sage-spice
aromas and flavors. The silky finish lingers from the ripe
tannins and smoky oak. This full-bodied wine should be enjoyed
over the
next 10 years. A traditional pairing for this wine is a rack
of lamb marinated in rosemary and garlic, however, a peppercorn
steak or mushroom risotto would work incredibly well also.
