Sparkling
Wine
-
This non-vintage Prosecco is a refreshing Italian
sparkling wine made primarily in the district of
Valdobbiadene
in
the
region of Veneto. Prosecco is the name of the grape
that is used to make this sparkling wine and many
of the best examples are 100% Prosecco. This grape
is prized for its delicate flavors and aromatics,
and to preserve these characteristics, the wine is
made in the Charmat method rather than the classic
Champagne method, which would mean aging the wine
for several years before release, robbing the wine
of its freshness.
White
Wines
-
This 2008 Mosel Riesling shows a bright golden hue, while
the nose is fresh with a touch of citrus and pear and semi-sweet
fruit
flavors on the mid-palate before a crisp, elegant finish.
Superbly matched with salads, fruits, light cheeses and desserts.
-
The 2007 Chardonnay was assembled from a number of parcels
of fruit spread over six different Gisborne, New Zealand
vineyards. The parcels were all tank fermented using yeast
strains selected
for
their ability
to amplify Chardonnay’s vibrant fruit character. After fermentation,
the various parcels were left in tank on their yeast lees
to gain complexity and richness. The wine is pale in the
glass,
but the color will deepen as the wine ages. The nose is typical
of Gisborne Chardonnay in a ripe year: stone fruit and melon
overtones, backed by a subtle creaminess that is derived
from lees stirring. The palate is full of fresh fruit character,
yet also has richness, weight and length.
-
Uniquely blended, irreverent, different, and delicious,
this 2007 Pinot Noir from the Languedoc is aged in
French and American
oak for six months. Bright garnet with
a leathery,
meaty nose and flavors of red cherry and currant. Generous
palate with good tannins and a long, lingering finish.
-
The blend is for the 2007 vintage is 65% Tempranillo and
35% Garnacha. The wine was cold-fermented and aged about
six
months in
stainless
steel.
The vines average 30 years old. Spain's Castilla region
is rather dry, and the temperatures can swing from quite
cool
at night to very warm during the day. Deep eggplant crimson
color, with aromas of black cherry, black raspberry, coffee
and earth. The mouthfeel is medium bodied, very dry, with
moderate tannins and lively, tart acidity. Black cherry,
raspberry, citrus and gravelly flavors evolve through the
dry finish.
-
Shiraz and
Grenache are the landmark varieties of McLaren Vale, and
the grapes for this 2005 vintage are grown on low-yielding
19th-century vineyards. It is very much a traditional style
of wine: rich, luscious and opulently soft, very much an
expression of terroir
and
variety that ages spectacularly. The final blend varies from
year to year in an effort to maintain the well-established
hallmarks of the brand. Serve at room temperature
now or over the next 3 – 20 years with grilled or barbecued
meats,
roast meats and mature cheese.
