"Royal Wines for Opening Day"

Week of April 4th, 2017

White Wines

  • As the first registered wine estate in the Robertson appellation, this producer has become known internationally as South Africa’s eminent Chardonnay house due to the pioneering role it played in introducing this noble Burgundian grape to South Africa. As an un-wooded wine, this Chardonnay emits optimum varietal expression in a cloak of rich complexity. Notes of grapefruit and nuts are perfectly balanced by a nuanced elegance that ends with a delicate ripeness.
  • Officially designated as a distinct American Viticultural Area in 2004, Oak Knoll District has more vines planted to it than any other AVA within the Napa Valley. This Viognier is a viscous explosion of beautiful flowers and fruit, with bright acidity and textured, concentrated flavor. It's meant for the table, where it will play well with the “Roasted Asparagus with Herbes de Provence” from our Wines by Jennifer® Cookbook!

Red Wines

  • The wine is 75% Grenache from San Benito County, with 23% Lodi Carignan, and 2% Bennett Valley Syrah blended for complexity. Flavors of strawberry and blackberry mingle with notes of baking spices. Bright cranberry and pomegranate integrate with wood undertones on a fresh, white pepper finish. Try with spicy foods, Asian short ribs, poultry, grilled salmon, or sundried tomatoes.
  • This 100% Tinta del Toro (Tempranillo) is made with fruit sourced from of 90 - 100-year-old vines of extremely limited production that are cultivated biodynamically. An intense nose of chocolate, black fruits and vanilla, with dark fruit and mineral notes following in the mouth. Round and silky, the wine is quite full-bodied yet very easy to drink!
  • This prestigious South African estate is a third generation family-owned and -operated winery, but the estate has a history that dates to 1771. The nose on their Stellenbosch Pinotage shows ripe cassis and smoky flavors that fuse with almond and chocolate aromas. The palate is full and round, with ripe, chewy tannins and flavors of coffee, cherry, cigar box and liquorice. Balanced acidity creates a fresh finish that will leave you reaching for more!
  • Fruit for this Malbec comes from vineyards located at 3600 feet above sea level in Mendoza's Uco Valley. This is the highest and most prestigious section of the Clos de los Siete estate vineyard. Attractive, well-defined, espresso-scented bouquet, with subtle black cherry and dried violet aromas. The palate is medium-bodied with firm, slightly edgy tannins. Tarry black fruit and a weighty finish allow for continued development in the bottle over time.
