"Summertime Wines"

Week of June 27th, 2017

White Wines

  • Orvieto Classico is white wine made under the Orvieto DOC of Umbria in central Italy, specifically made from vineyards within the DOC's traditional classico viticultural area. Traditional Orvieto DOC whites may contain Grechetto, Procanico (Trebbiano), Verdello (Verdelho), Drupeggio (Canaiolo Bianco) and/or Malvasia Bianca.
  • This wine spends 10 months in French oak barrels, giving the perfect balance of fruit, nuttiness and creamy texture. Crisp acid aligns with orchard fruit notes on the mid-palate, complemented by a long, juicy finish. The family's 7th-generation winemaker truly does Chardonnay justice in this micro-produced Bourgogne blanc!

Red Wines

  • This Carneros Pinot Noir shimmers a bright ruby color in the glass, with youthful purple undertones. Fragrant from the minute you pop the cork, the evocative nose is layered with flavors of golden raspberry and nectarine, orange peel, rose petal, and a slight forest-floor earthiness that makes it prototypical Carneros. The mouth is dense and supple, with smooth, creamy tannins that give the wine a deliciously delicate weight. Flavors of clove and vanilla resonate in the mouth, and the lengthy finish is reminiscent of richly roasted coffee.
  • This classic Sonoma meritage blend of Cabernet Sauvignon, Cab Franc, Malbec, and Petit Verdot leads with raspberry, black cherry, and wild flower aromas. In the mouth, lovely red currant and cassis flavors, with excellent structure providing a cellaring potential of 3 – 5 years.
  • This Lodi wine is a blend of Cabernet Sauvignon, Petite Sirah, Syrah and Zinfandel. It shows a dark ruby color with an aroma that’s rich in mixed berries and black cherry preserves. Hints of spice and bacon carry through on the palate. This decadent red blend finishes with soft tannins, dark fruit and elaborate oak.
  • This producer makes fine wine produced from small lots of select varietals from estate vineyards in St. Helena and Calistoga. They also produce wine from other premium Napa and Sonoma growers under long-term vineyard contracts. This Zinfandel is rich and complex with juicy flavors of wild cherries, blueberries, chocolate and a touch of black pepper.
