Wine Tasting Table

Week of August 22nd, 2017

White Wines

  • The winemaker and his daughter work in a higher elevation region of the Veneto where they grow grapes that don’t succeed anywhere else. This wine is made from a unique Moscato clone known as Fior d’Arancio (“orange blossom”), a grape that grows in just a small area and is famous for aromatic qualities taken from orange trees that grow nearby. Try with the “Zucchini Bread” recipe from our Wines by Jennifer® Cookbook!
  • Mouthwatering and multi-dimensional, this Willamette Valley wine is a blend of cool-climate white varietals: Gewürztraminer, Müller-Thurgau, Pinot Gris and Riesling. Intensely aromatic, with a nose of tropical flowers, ripe kiwi and melon, the silky soft palate is brimming with rose petals, pink grapefruit, mango and white nectarine, finishing on a high, clean note of bright key lime.

Red Wines

  • This 5th-generation Burgundy winemaker makes his Pinot Noir in a very traditional style: hand-harvested fruit from 40+ year-old vines fermented with indigenous yeasts in temperature-controlled tanks. The wine is aged in older French oak barrels and bottled unfined and unfiltered. Aromas of black cherries, raspberries and earth, with fresh and juicy flavors of raspberries and baking spices. Pair with our Roast Beef Focaccia Sandwich!
  • Lodi is home to some of America’s most jammy and delicious Zinfandels! This fine example is crimson in color, with savory aromas of ripe plum, dark cherry and dried leaves. Fruit-driven and medium-bodied, this wine also displays an earthy backbone laced with flavors of tobacco and a hint of toasted oak. The perfect accompaniment to your next KC backyard BBQ!
  • Pronounced WAH-luke, the Wahluke Slope is an isolated, south-facing plateau of more than 5200 vineyard acres that is one of the warmest spots in Eastern Washington wine country. This Cabernet Sauvignon shows expressive aromas of sweet Bing cherry, dried strawberry and ripe raspberry that lead way to flavors of bright cranberry and pomegranate with nuances of burnt caramel and rose petal. Yummy!
  • Petite Sirah is the flagship of this California winery's lineup, and just one taste will show you why! This dark, brooding wine is sourced from the Central Coast, and shows aromas of boysenberry and blueberry tied together with sweet cedar and vanilla notes from judicious use of new oak. Plum, blackberry, and other black fruit flavors meld with immense tannins resulting in a mouthfilling expression of dark fruits that coat the whole mouth.
