Week of August 29th, 2017

White Wines

  • The Gascogne region in southwest France is well-known for producing wines of exceptional value. The blend is Colombard, Ugni Blanc, Gros Manseng, and Sauvignon Blanc, with each variety vinified separately, then blended and aged in tank until bottling. Crisp, zesty, and very pleasant, this wine is particularly good with seafood or shellfish.
  • This Italian cooperative was founded in 1972. Today it includes 160 growers with vineyards spread over 600 hectares in the hills surrounding the Tuscan village of Scansano. This full-bodied white wine shows typical Viognier aromas and flavors of peach, tangerine and honeysuckle.

Red Wines

  • This wine is a blend of both Village and Cru vineyards in the heart of Beaujolais. Bright fruit on the nose and palate, with lighter tannins and balanced acidity. Aromas show a hint of ripeness, while the palate shows red fruit brightness. Firm tension on the back palate underlines the mineral expression of this classic Beaujolais.
  • The co-founder and winemaker at this Willamette Valley winery has been making acclaimed Oregon wines for nearly 30 years. Aromas of ripe plums and mocha, with a subtle, earthy, white peppercorn spice. Dark spice, mission fig, and vanilla essence on the palate, with fruit-driven texture from beginning to end. Robust yet balanced tannins make this Pinot Noir the perfect accompaniment for the “Cedar Plank Grilled Salmon” from our Wines by Jennifer® Cookbook!
  • This “Super Veneto” is a blend of Corvina, Cabernet, and Merlot. Deep ruby red with purplish hues. Aromas and flavors of black cherry, plum, blackberry and currant. Subtle hints of dried red flowers and spicy black pepper provide good complexity. Excellent with red meat or medium-aged cheeses.
  • This storied Provencal domaine has been producing organic wines with passion and skill for decades. The blend is Cabernet Sauvignon, Grenache, Syrah, and Carignan. It has a gently fleshy feel, with lightly dried plum and black cherry fruit flavors lined with lavender, tobacco and black tea notes. A pretty mineral edge extends the long and pleasant finish.
