Week of September 19th, 2017

White Wines

  • The winemaking process adopted for this Venetian wine is three times the normal amount of time usually taken for vinification. The blend is comprised of 80% Garganega, 15% Sauvignon Blanc, and 5% Chardonnay. Full of wild flowers, green apple and pineapple, the wine is ideal with appetizers, fish and white meats.
  • Known as Macabeo elsewhere is Spain, Viura is the primary white grape in the Rioja region. This 100% Viura is fruity and slightly herbaceous, completely fresh and intense until the end. Pair with the "Patatas Bravas" recipe from our Wines by Jennifer® Cookbook!

Red Wines

  • The Douro region of northern Portugal is the home of Port. It takes its name from the Douro River, which flows east to west from the Spanish border to Oporto where it meets the Atlantic Ocean. The wine is a blend of 40% Tinta Roriz, 30% Touriga Franca and 30% Touriga Nacional planted on the schist soils that are prominent in the region.
  • Sourced from the oldest vineyards of the family estate, this Rioja Tempranillo also has 5% Graciano. Ruby-red color with tile-colored hues, it has balanced and complex aromas of spice and balsamic, along with hints of vanilla. In the mouth, it provides a silky sensation of softness and elegance, with a long and intense persistence.
  • Much like a Bordeaux, this unique Yountville blend is bursting with flavor. Loaded, bold, and robust, with a beautiful balance of earth and fruit. Bright mouthfeel, with ripe raspberry flavors, spicy undertones, and notes of morel mushroom and forest floor. Slight oak on the finish frames and outlines this wine beautifully.
  • Blended by a notable winemaker, this Alexander Valley Cabernet Sauvignon spent 16 months in French oak barrels of which 35% were new. Blended with small amounts of Cabernet Franc and Merlot, the wine drinks wonderfully now, but will also age well for the next 7 - 8 years with proper cellaring.
