Week of October 17th, 2017

White Wines

  • Made with the traditional Nantais grape, Melon de Bourgogne, this Muscadet is pale yellow with greenish highlights. Racy minerality and lively citrus fruit lead to more weight and richness in the mid-palate. The richness is balanced by a freshness that pairs well with the “Crab Dip” recipe from our Wines by Jennifer® Cookbook!
  • This Lake County, California property now comprises 30 acres of olives trees and 36 acres of wine grapes. Their tasty organic Chardonnay has big, buttery and ripe fruit character, with ample weight but good underlying acidity to keep it from being heavy.

Red Wines

  • The fruit is sourced from one of the coolest vineyards in California. This Mendocino County Pinot Noir is aged in French oak barrels, 25% of which are new. Unfined and unfiltered, it is dark reddish-purple in the glass. Damp, earthy aromas with black cherry in the background. Rugged blackberry fruit flavors, with good balance and firm grip.
  • Uco Valley is the new frontier of winemaking in Mendoza. At a higher elevation than Luján de Cuyo, excellent fruit is produced from vineyards up to 1400m (4600 feet) above sea level. These high-elevation vineyards allow plenty of floral character to intermingle with notes of red fruits. Elegant and structured, with plenty of concentration and length, enjoy this 100% Malbec now or over the next five years.
  • This Napa Cab offers distinctive aromas of dark cherry, currant, and plum, with hints of peppery spice. Its ripe berry fruit flavors are enhanced by subtle oak nuances on a long, lingering finish. With its full body, smooth tannins and lengthy finish, it pairs well with rich, flavorful foods such as prime rib, wild game and Italian fare.
  • Petite Sirah is a classic grape planted and grown in California for more than a century. It is well suited to the limiting soils found in this winery's estate vineyards in Paso Robles. Dark garnet in color, with black cherry aromas and hints of vanilla and mocha. Full-bodied, with notes of juicy, dark fruit and integrated, meaty tannins. This wine is a chewy mouthful!
