Week of October 31st, 2017

White Wines

  • Chardonnay fruit is sourced from the highest-quality terroirs of Burgundy, and the grapes are hand-picked when the balance between acidity and sweetness is at its prime. Light golden color with greenish highlights. Rich aromas of dried fruits and white flowers. Fifty percent of the cuvée is aged in stainless steel tanks bringing fruitiness and freshness, whereas the 50% aged in oak barrels provides structure and roundness.
  • Begun in 1950 by the family with 30 hectares of vines, they have over the years expanded to the 100 hectares they farm today. This Pays d'Oc Viognier has a rich, herby nose, with ripe fruit balanced on the palate by firm crispness. There is a creamy, ripe texture on the long, savory finish that marries perfectly with the “Mushroom Crustades” recipe from our Wines by Jennifer® Cookbook!

Red Wines

  • This Languedoc Merlot has a touch of green pepper that dances on the nose of this otherwise bold, darkly fruited wine. Notes of coffee and chocolate brownie lend richness to the palate, fleshing out the crushed velvet texture and black plum and currant flavors. A final hint of tobacco spice graces the finish. Wonderfully complex and exceptional value!
  • This Tannat blend from Uruguay comes from hand-harvested fruit. Dark color with purplish-blue hints, and elegant, toasty aromas with notes of coffee. In the mouth, the wine is full-flavored and well-structured, with excellent acidity that makes for a very versatile food wine!
  • This Malbec was 100% organically grown at over 3000 feet above sea level in an old vineyard established in Luján de Cuyo in 1930. Deep, saturated violet color with a blackish hue. Aromas of dark berry fruits with notes of delicate violets and subtle oak. Full-bodied, with excellent weight and texture. The lengthy finish shows wonderful minerality, with finely grained tannins and lively acidity. Pairs well with red meats, pasta with spicy sauces, and mature cheeses.
  • Grapes are hand-sourced from select vineyards throughout the Napa Valley. The nose shows layer after layer of cassis, saddle leather, and dried leaves. The wine's massive structure is complemented by flavors of pipe smoke, black cherry, and a lengthy finish of sweet vanilla oak. This flagship wine shows the great depth and complexity you would expect from excellent Napa Cab, but at a fraction of the cost!
