Week of January 16th, 2018

White Wine

  • In 1997, two longtime Swiss friends and business associates planted the first of what would later become six vineyards in Paso Robles, and soon thereafter the winery was born. Everything in this Monterey Chardonnay is in perfect balance, from the green apple and guava nose to the subtle vanilla and peach palate. The long, vibrant, flavorful finish is perfect with the “Pineapple Cheese Toast” from our Wines by Jennifer® Cookbook!

Red Wines

  • This lovely California Pinot Noir has a wonderful nose of black olive, freshly turned earth, cranberry and Bing cherry. The balanced and lengthy palate carries the fruit and earth notes, along with hints of black olive, white pepper, and a slight caramel oak flavor. Pair with the “Cedar Plank Grilled Salmon” from our Wines by Jennifer® Cookbook!
  • This family-run estate lies in the tiny hamlet of Saint Marcel d’Ardeche in France’s beautiful Rhone Valley. Marselan is a rare grape that was developed as a cross between Cabernet Sauvignon and Grenache in the 1960s. Aromas and flavors are of black currants, wild herbs, loamy earth, and tobacco leaf, finishing with a slight meatiness on the medium-bodied, nicely balanced palate.
  • The family owns 60 hectares of vineyards in the heart of the Valpolicella Classico area that date to 1874. The blend is 70% Corvina, 20% Rondinella, 5% Molinara and 5% Oseleta. Ruby red, with an intense, ample nose of almonds and fruit. Dry, flavorful and structured on the palate, with pleasing bitterish nuances.
  • The 10-acre estate vineyard is located high above Napa Valley on the eastern slope of Atlas Peak. These rocky, impoverished, volcanic soils limit the crop to just about 1-1.5 tons per acre of intense fruit. Floral nose with hints of licorice, fresh plums, cassis, cherries, and dark fruit, with a hint of burnt caramel and roasted coffee. Blueberry and currant flavors come forward in front of the chewy and velvety tannins. Enjoy this delicious Cabernet Sauvignon now or over the next 10-12 years with careful cellaring.
  • This winery has long been known for outstanding Zinfandels that perfectly represent their Lodi terroir. Zinfandel was introduced to California during the Gold Rush in the 1850s, with many old vineyards still producing excellent vines. Aromas and flavors of berries and spice, with a creamy vanilla texture and a long, smooth finish. Yum!
