Wine Tasting Table

Week of January 23rd, 2018

White Wine

  • This old-vine Chardonnay sees only minimal handling to achieve clarity, brilliance, and maximum expression of flavor and aroma. The resulting wine is rich and balanced, with aromas of quince and citrus fruits, a generous and full mouthfeel, and typical Mâcon flavors of apples, pears, and warm spices. The long, vibrant, flavorful finish is perfect with the “Pineapple Cheese Toast” from our Wines by Jennifer® Cookbook!

Red Wines

  • This Barbera d'Alba is dark ruby in color, with floral, red fruit, and spice notes on the nose. Light- to medium-bodied, with dried cherry and oak on the mid-palate. Neutral tannins and abundant acidity make this not only great for quaffing, but very versatile with food. Enjoy with a slight chill now or over the next year alongside the “Swedish Meatballs with Paprika Sauce” from our Wines by Jennifer® Cookbook!
  • The château is located in Entre-Deux-Mers, the largest sub-region of Bordeaux. Although both red and white wine is produced, only the white carries the Entre-Deux-Mers appellation d'origine contrôlée (AOC). The red is sold as either Bordeaux or Bordeaux Supérieur. With its impressive balance of fruit and delicacy, it’s no wonder this wine captures gold at wine competitions year after year.
  • Claret is the age-old English term for red wines of Bordeaux, and this wine from the Central Coast of California harmoniously marries the pure, ripe fruit favors of California to the Old World finesse of Bordeaux. Cab, Merlot, Petit Verdot, and Malbec all meld together to provide savory scents of blackberry, black currant, cedar, and classic cigar box. In the mouth, the wine is smooth and expansive, with soft, silky tannins on a long and satisfying finish.
  • This Lodi winery is a long-time WBJ® fave known for outstanding Zinfandels that perfectly represent their terroir. Zinfandel was introduced to California during the Gold Rush in the 1850s, with many old vineyards still producing excellent vines. Aromas and flavors of berries and spice, with a creamy vanilla texture and a long, smooth finish. Yum!

Dessert Wine

  • Located in the heart of Moscato country, this prestigious vineyard enjoys full southern exposure and a slope of more than 20%, both of which help pamper the grapes with many long hours of sunshine. This fresh and lively frizzante shows ripe, juicy flavors of lime zest, apple skin, and pear. Clean and refreshing on the finish, this is a perfectly balanced Moscato d'Asti that is sure to please sweet and dry wine drinkers alike!
