Wines by Jennifer®

Week of June 4th, 2019

White & Rosé Wines

  • The winery has been in the hands of the same family since the 1970s. Their Cortese vineyards are located right in the municipality of Gavi. Bright yellow color, with a delicate bouquet of dried pineapple and peach. Full and rich in flavor, yet minerally and refreshing to the end.

  • This wonderful dry rosé is a blend of local varietals Corvina, Rondinella, and Molinara. Juicy and floral with fresh acidity and ripe cherry flavors. Good concentration and a leafy, stony fresh finish make for a wonderful pairing with the “Roasted Garlic” recipe from our Wines by Jennifer® Cookbook.

Red Wines

  • This terrific wine is crafted from premium Pinot Noir grapes sourced from several notable vineyards in the Russian River Valley AVA. Carefully blended to express the unique flavors associated with this appellation, the wine is fermented in small lots and then barrel-aged for eight months to provide the wonderful depth and complexity that makes it so memorable.
  • Once you taste this Tuscan wine’s rich, crushed berry fruit, earthy backbone and smooth, fresh finish, you'll be hard-pressed to put down your glass! An inviting blend of Sangiovese, Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot from the vineyards located in the craggy hills of the Upper Maremma, it is aged in used French-oak barrels to give it sturdy structure and backbone.
  • This delicious Paso Robles Cabernet Franc is an exuberant wine, featuring deep scarlet color and aromas reminiscent of black cherry and plum with subtle notes of vanilla and cedar. In the mouth, it shows opulent texture, gentle acidity, and savory berry flavors with a hint of velvety oak that lengthens the finish.
  • This California winery's take on a Bordeaux-style blend has estate Petit Verdot (52%) as its base, resulting in a concentrated, tannic wine with lots of color. Estate Malbec (26%) contributes flavors of plum and dark chocolate while adding richness to the mid-palate. Cabernet Sauvignon (22%) from Chalk Hill, Alexander Valley and the Dunnigan Hills adds length and depth and plenty of big tannins that allow for extended aging.

And Now Introducing:

Wines by Jennifer® Wine Flights!

($10 Club Members/$12 Guests)

The Wines by Jennifer® Wine Flights program was developed to allow introduction, exploration and comparison into specific wine styles, regions, varietals, wineries and winemakers. The Port Flight will consist of three 1-ounce pours, served in unison.

Featured Flight: European Rosés

Rosé is a style of wine that incorporates some of the color from the grape skins, but not enough to qualify it as a red wine. It may be the oldest known type of wine, as it is the most straightforward to make. Color can range from a pale salmon-orange to a vivid near-purple, depending on the varietals used and winemaking techniques.

There are three major ways to produce Rosé wine: skin contact, saignée, or blending. Skin contact and saignée are the most common, while the third method of simply blending red and white wine is uncommon and mostly discouraged (except in Champagne).

Rosé wines can be made still, semi-sparkling or sparkling, in a wide range of sweetness levels from highly dry Provençal Rosé to sweet White Zinfandels and blushes, and from a wide variety of grapes. They are ideal wines to share with friends, sunshine and light summer fare on our front porch or in our beautiful Wine Garden with a selection of mild cheeses from the Osceola Cheese Company!

  • Borne centuries ago from glaciers, the soil of the hilly morainic region on the eastern shores of Lake Garda is perfect for producing Bardolino Classico Rosé from the local varietals Corvina, Rondinella and Molinara. Hand-selected grape bunches are first-pressed after a 12- to 36-hour maceration period, followed by temperature-controlled fermentation in stainless steel vats. Fruity and elegant, with floral hints of rose and violet, this is a fresh, delicate and perky wine best served (like all Rosés) well chilled.
  • The vineyards lie on the opposite bank of the Rhone River from the famed Chateauneuf-du-Pape region, known for some of France’s most revered wines. This wine shows a beautiful intense color with an explosion of fruit in the nose and on the palate. A classic GSM (Grenache, Syrah and Mourvèdre) blend, this young wine is fermented in 100% stainless steel to maintain crispness and bright, elegant fruit.
  • The eastern side of the Alps supplies the base of sandy gravel, loam and lime-rich soil upon which the Austrian wine industry thrives. These vineyards just south of Vienna are ideally situated on a slope equidistant from the Danube River on one side and the Neusiedlersee on the other. Light and refreshing, with balanced acidity and notes of strawberries and red cherries, this blend of Zweigelt, Blaufränkisch and Cabernet Sauvignon is definitely a great starter or a #roséallday wine!
