Week of June 11th, 2019

White & Rosé Wines

  • Marlborough is best known for its dry, sunny climate and its amazing Sauvignon Blanc wine. This amazing wine region is now responsible for the production of 77% of all New Zealand wine. Lively and fresh aromas of citrus and cut grass jump from the glass and tantalize your taste buds. The palate is clean and crisp, with linear acidity that is balanced by citrus fruit and cantaloupe melon.

  • Located in the northeast corner of Italy along the border of Slovenia, Friuli is primarily a white wine region responsible for 2.5% of all wine produced in Italy. This wine is a standard fruit and citrus-driven Italian Grigio, but with a little more intensity. Light-bodied and crisp in the mouth, with a grapefruit-driven close that could match spicy Chinese takeout.
  • This Piemonte rosato is a blend of 50% Barbera and 50% Merlot. Structure and bright acidity come from the Barbera, while the Merlot provides strength and smoothness. Medium in body, with fruity notes of strawberries and red berries. Fresh, elegant and persistent, pair this with the “Roasted Garlic” recipe from our Wines by Jennifer® Cookbook.

Red Wines

  • This terrific wine is crafted from premium Pinot Noir grapes sourced from Oregon's Willamette Valley AVA. It is carefully blended to express the unique flavors associated with this wonderful appellation. Fermented in small lots and barrel-aged for 10 months in 30% new French oak, try it with the “Cedar Plank Grilled Salmon” from our Wines by Jennifer® Cookbook.
  • This sustainably farmed, unoaked Spanish Tempranillo shows soft, fresh tannins and vibrant red fruit that are definite crowd pleasers. Expressing its natural strength, agility, and balance from fermentation in cement tanks, it pairs perfectly with spicy foods, pizza, and hamburgers.
  • This Napa winery's take on a Bordeaux-style blend is produced with 100% estate-grown fruit from Calistoga. Featuring all five red Bordeaux varietals, the wine is refined, complex and elegant. Well integrated with black cherry, warm spice, smokey oak and supple tannins, pair with beef wellington, slow roasted lamb with caramelized red wine sauce, or roast duck with citrus pan sauce.

And Now Introducing:

Wines by Jennifer® Wine Flights!

($10 Club Members/$12 Guests)

The Wines by Jennifer® Wine Flights program was developed to allow introduction, exploration and comparison into specific wine styles, regions, varietals, wineries and winemakers. The Port Flight will consist of three 1-ounce pours, served in unison.

Featured Flight: European Rosés

Rosé is a style of wine that incorporates some of the color from the grape skins, but not enough to qualify it as a red wine. It may be the oldest known type of wine, as it is the most straightforward to make. Color can range from a pale salmon-orange to a vivid near-purple, depending on the varietals used and winemaking techniques.

There are three major ways to produce Rosé wine: skin contact, saignée, or blending. Skin contact and saignée are the most common, while the third method of simply blending red and white wine is uncommon and mostly discouraged (except in Champagne).

Rosé wines can be made still, semi-sparkling or sparkling, in a wide range of sweetness levels from highly dry Provençal Rosé to sweet White Zinfandels and blushes, and from a wide variety of grapes. They are ideal wines to share with friends, sunshine and light summer fare on our front porch or in our beautiful Wine Garden with a selection of mild cheeses from the Osceola Cheese Company!

  • Borne centuries ago from glaciers, the soil of the hilly morainic region on the eastern shores of Lake Garda is perfect for producing Bardolino Classico Rosé from the local varietals Corvina, Rondinella and Molinara. Hand-selected grape bunches are first-pressed after a 12- to 36-hour maceration period, followed by temperature-controlled fermentation in stainless steel vats. Fruity and elegant, with floral hints of rose and violet, this is a fresh, delicate and perky wine best served (like all Rosés) well chilled.
  • The vineyards lie on the opposite bank of the Rhone River from the famed Chateauneuf-du-Pape region, known for some of France’s most revered wines. This wine shows a beautiful intense color with an explosion of fruit in the nose and on the palate. A classic GSM (Grenache, Syrah and Mourvèdre) blend, this young wine is fermented in 100% stainless steel to maintain crispness and bright, elegant fruit.
  • The eastern side of the Alps supplies the base of sandy gravel, loam and lime-rich soil upon which the Austrian wine industry thrives. These vineyards just south of Vienna are ideally situated on a slope equidistant from the Danube River on one side and the Neusiedlersee on the other. Light and refreshing, with balanced acidity and notes of strawberries and red cherries, this blend of Zweigelt, Blaufränkisch and Cabernet Sauvignon is definitely a great starter or a #roséallday wine!
