Week of March 10th, 2020

March Madness: Americas Regional

White Wines

  • This wonderful Sauvignon Blanc from Chile's Elqui Valley features ripe gooseberry, citrus and green apple aromas and flavors framed with crisp acidity. The wine has an opulent character and abundant fruit expression, with excellent length and complexity. Pair with the “Chilled Seafood Dip” from our Wines by Jennifer Cookboo.

  • The Viognier is planted at the highest point in the Paso Robles estate vineyard, and benefits from the cooling Pacific breezes that blow through the Templeton Gap. Medium-bodied, with peach and mandarin orange zest notes and a lively finish, this is a vibrant California version of a classic Rhône variety. Pair with the “Roasted Asparagus with Herbes de Provence” from our Wines by Jennifer Cookboo.
  • This Napa Valley Chardonnay shows wonderful aromas of butterscotch, vanilla and crisp apple that lead to the well-developed palate loaded with generous tropical fruit notes and baking spices. Bright, stone-like acidity ties this delicious package all together, making it a wonderful companion to the “Banana Bread” recipe from our Wines by Jennifer Cookboo.

Red Wines

  • Fresh, light red fruits leap out of the glass of this Sonoma Coast Pinot Noir, complemented with baking spices and earthy hints of fresh-picked mushrooms and black tea. Grapes are hand-harvested and fermented separately in small lots. The wine is then barrel-aged for 10 months using approximately 25% new French oak. Pairs well with the “Cedar Plank Grilled Salmon” from our Wines by Jennifer Cookboo.
  • This Argentine wine is made from 100% hand-harvested Malbec grapes selected from the best parcels in Mendoza. It is aged for six months in both French and American oak barrels. Deep red color, with nice aromatic complexity and subtle, delicate tannins. Complex, long, and balanced, it's great with the “Blue Cheese Pork Tenderloin” recipe from our Wines by Jennifer Cookboo.
  • This classic Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon offers up aromas of wild fruit, briar patch, plum and blackcurrant. The palate opens to a juicy, lush, medium-bodied mouthfeel where the aromas ring true with bright fruit character and crushed herb, pencil shavings and spice flavors. The wine is a cooler climate style; elegant with a rich texture and integrated, smooth tannins. Aged for 12 months in primarily American oak and some French oak.
